the wise man will cleanse himself from every evil thought

 Tatrābhiratimiccheyya, hitvā kāme akiñcano;

Pariyodapeyya attānaṃ, cittaklesehi paṇḍito.

Putting away pleasure and possessing nothing of his own, 

the wise man will cleanse himself from every evil thought.
